AQUAPONIC SYSTEM

We had two deep water culture beds (DWC) in MO, three in TX, and one so far in AR. (We are in the process of setting up more).  They are about 4 feet by 36 feet.

This means we grow on floating rafts.  This method of growing is used mainly for leafy greens; all types of lettuce, watercress, arugula, kale, elkshorn, and various herbs.

We also have grown cabbage and radicchio in this system.

We used tilapia in our system in MO, stripper and perch in TX, and now in AR we have catfish and perch.  We harvest them when they get big enough.
The fish are what fertilizes the plants through their waste products and the plant roots clean the water for the fish.  This makes it a closed system that uses very little water.
